I analyze your best colors to bring out your own personal glow.

Jeana

Today, Glowing Color features Jeana.

About Jeana: “I live in a town next to Orlando, FL. I work for a large commercial insurance company. For fun, I work on my family history-genealogy. I have a son 22 and a daughter 23-both working and in college. I’ve been married 25 years. We have 3 dogs. I have one sister. I lost both my parents last year-mom in June and Dad in November. It’s been a hard couple of years worrying and trying to help them. I think that’s why I am ready for this “upgrade”. I want to be the best me I can be. It seems silly not to know what colors flatter you. If I am going to buy a new shirt and I can get it in a few different colors, I’d like to get the one that is most flattering—not the color that I just like.”

Jeana’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? bottoms-black, navy, grey; tops-teal, purple, pink, maroon, light grey, white

What color(s) do you wear the least? never wear ivory, yellow; wear very little black near my face either

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? purples, teals

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? lavender, teal, red

Jeana in cooler colors:

blacksilverwhiteredfuchsiadeep berrylavenderlight blue   royal blue  sky blue teal

Jeana in warmer colors:

Jeana is a Winter. She should definitely avoid pastels, but the vibrant jewel tones really work for her.

Tayler

Today, Glowing Color features Tayler, a student.

Tayler’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? Black

What color(s) do you wear the least? Dark purple, green, yellow, brown.

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? Hot pink or black

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? Bright summer colors

Tayler in cooler colors:

graywhiteredfuchsiaorchidblue

Tayler in warmer colors:

yellowtiger

Tayler is a Winter. The red is what gave it away; my eyes are drawn to her in red and it brings out so much in her face, whereas the yellow and warmer colors just sit on her and draw attention away from her lovely face.

Maritza

Today, Glowing Color features Maritza.

About Maritza: “I am  from (and live in) in Mexico City. I am working as an executive administrator in a small company. I am just married. I like cooking, love the confectionery, cupcakes, cakes .”

Maritza’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? Black, pink, medium gray, dark blue.

What color(s) do you wear the least? Red, orange, brown, white, beige, coral, camel. Icy colors.

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? Sexy: Hot pink or black. Beautiful: All shades of pink, true green.

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? Royal blue, bright pink, fuchsia, dark rose, true green, teal.

Maritza in cooler colors:

blackgraywhiteredfuchsiapinkaquaroyal bluebluegreendark green

Maritza in warmer colors:

ivorytanyellowmustardorangecoralburgundypurplecelery

Maritza is a Winter. The fuchsia and the royal blue jumped out right away. Her face looks so clear and bright in these colors. Maritza should definitely stay close to the bolder, more vibrant Winter colors and avoid the light and pastel cool colors. Also, go back and read her Color Interview. She was very in tune with her season unconsciously.

Courtney

Today, Glowing Color features Courtney.

About Courtney: “I recently found your website and am very much enjoying it!  I’ve always enjoyed fashion, but I want to learn to select clothes that really flatter me and my coloring.  Also, as someone who used to be a natural blond and now have dull brown hair, I’m trying to figure out the best hair color for my skin tone. I live near San Francisco, and work in San Francisco.  I’m 32, an attorney specializing in tax law and work with nonprofit organizations and charitable tax planning.  For fun I read, travel, dance, take long walks.”

Courtney’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? Black and white — clean, classic, and everything in my closet mixes and matches.

What color(s) do you wear the least? Blue (all shades of blue I wear rarely).

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? Sexy – red. Beautiful – coral or peach.

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? Coral or bright pink.

Courtney in cooler colors:

black gray red hot pink magenta blue  green

Courtney in warmer colors:

ivory yellowpeach orange olive green

Courtney is a Spring. The cooler colors just sit on her, but her glow comes to life in the warmer colors. My eyes go straight to her face when she’s wearing light yellow and peach, but directly to the fabric when she’s wearing blue or pink. My initial thought was that she would be an Autumn, but my eyes kept being drawn to her in the lighter, warmer colors. She can wear some of the deeper, more vibrant warm colors, but the light tones of Spring really bring out her glow. I will also send some hair color ideas to her.

Laura

Today, Glowing Color features Laura.

I’m Laura from Dublin in Ireland. Mother to a gorgeous boy and work full time within fashion retail. I love clothes and I’m usually drawn to bright colours and bold patterns although been trying to stick to block colour of late. I start to doubt my choices as my sisters are both natural blondes and look great in soft & muted shades and sometimes I feel like a clown next to them, so thought now is as good a time as any to finally get a second opinion on what season I am and to sort out my wardrobes. I am kickstarting the year with a new healthy lifestyle plan and would love the confidence in knowing I am wearing the right colours that suit me when I lose the final phase of baby weight . Perhaps not the need to wear as much makeup outside of work to colour my face??? If that makes sense.

Laura’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? not really one colour my closet is like a rainbow, but greens and nude-blush shade.

What color(s) do you wear the least? brown, black close to my face, orange, purple.

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? navy, nude, orange red.

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? green or navy

Before we look at Laura’s photos, here is a shot of her with a hair color closer to her natural color:

Laura is a Winter. Her strong features and lovely eyes pop in the bold, cooler jewel colors of winter compared to being a bit washed out in the warmer colors. Her coloring is also too deep for Summer, hence her feeling not quite right in pastels. I think once her hair lightens a bit, and she sticks to her Winter colors, she will continue to stun.

Ari

Today, Glowing Color features Ari.

About Ari: “My name is Ari, I’m 21 I’m a studying clothing, textiles, and Art. I work at Starbucks as a barista and I live in a little mountain town that’s really dull so I love road trips and finding reasons to wander!”

Ari’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? Black! lots and lots of black! I’m a recovering teenage goth and learning to be comfortable in colors is hard!

What color(s) do you wear the least? probably yellow.

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? yellowy old looking green, or purple!

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? probably this gorgeous velvet poncho that has warm fall colors in it, yellows, reds, greens and oranges.

No doubt about it, Ari is an Autumn. The olive green jacket gave it away! There were also clues leading up to this in her Color Interview–go back and read what colors make her feel beautiful, the colors she gets the most compliments in. There might as well have been glorious autumn leaves falling delicately over her interview. Ari’s natural hair color is an ash brown, which she is currently trying to get back to, growing out her old reddish hair color. I think this is a great idea, and I will send her some other suggestions as well.

Kit

Today, Glowing Color features Kit. Kit writes,

I just found your blog this morning and I am totally addicted already.  I have been on a quest for over a year hoping to identify my color.  I have “tried on” every season and still feel lost.  I’m getting older (will be 60 next month!) and I just can no longer see myself or identify what I look good in.  I need help!

I would be most interested in learning from you the services you offer and their rates.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Your new reader and fan,
Kit
About Kit: “I live in Los Angeles and have been married for over 20 years.  I love to draw and paint, read cookbooks and healthy living blogs.  I am mostly vegetarian but do enjoy occasional seafood and chicken.  My husband retires in less than three years and we will be moving from Los Angeles to a much smaller market.  We are both very excited about that and right now feel a little like we are living in limbo because we are ready for the next chapter in our lives but it isn’t quite time.”

Kit’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? My default colors are blue, gray, and white.

What color(s) do you wear the least? Orange.

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? Navy or white.

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? Blue.

Keep in mind Kit’s natural hair color is a medium-dark brown. Kit in cooler colors:

Kit in warmer colors:

Kit - camelKit - warm brownKit - cool brownKit - hot yellowKit - pale peachKit - coralKit - navyKit - soft army green

Kit is a Winter. Kit has been favoring cooler colors in her wardrobe, particularly blue. She instinctively gravitated toward the colors in her season! She wrote about her hair color feeling off, which makes sense because it is a warm brown with golden highlights. She definitely needs to go cooler with her hair, which will also set off her gorgeous eyes.

Stephanie

Today Glowing Color features Stephanie. Stephanie writes,

Hello!

I am 38, born and raised in Olympia, WA. I was away for 5 years on active duty with the air force in Virginia, yet came back home to ply. I have 2 children, 11 and 2 both boys that keep me pretty busy, yet i still stay active with running and just started participating in the Spartan races with my oldest. I am a Judicial Educator with the state and a Knowledge Operations Manger with the Air Force. I came across your site today and am impressed with your analyses. What are your rates for consultation?

Here is Stephanie’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? black, grey, and blue

What color(s) do you wear the least? red and orange

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? black

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? Can’t say about the color I receive compliments in…I mostly hear that I look tired.

Let’s look at Stephanie in cooler colors first.

Great photos, Stephanie! There’s a correlation between the fact that Stephanie hears she looks tired often, and her most common colors of black, grey, and blue. That’s because Stephanie is an Autumn. She needs to go deep into the boldest, most vibrant autumn hues and shy away from the duller tones and pastels.

Susan

Today, Glowing Color features Susan. Susan is from the NYC area where she works as an actor and model. She enjoys classic film, art, design, and museums. 4 of her friends actually gifted her this color analysis! Susan writes,

I am so thrilled to have this done, as seasonal color analysis has been torturing me. I’m so very grateful for my friends for doing this. they rock.
First, I was termed a true summer (which quite honestly, either that or another summer may be accurate) by Christine Scamman, who is awesome. She analyzed every striation of color in my eyeball, and said it was textbook true summer. (I blew up my eyeball photo and pixilated it, and noticed every single color of it is in the true summer fan, if that means anything…dunno….)
I had no reason to doubt Christine, until the true summer group…told me otherwise.

 pls advise,
Susan

I want to address the issue about eye color, because I’ve had several e-mails that mention this: I do not use eye color alone to determine someone’s season. If that was all that was needed to determine someone’s season, what about all the women of color who have dark brown eyes? Are they all the same season? No (though some websites would have you believe this)! So while eye color can be a helpful factor at times, it is by no means the main way of determining season. It comes from your skin and all the unique glowing colors and tones within!

Here is Susan’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? pink and blue

What color(s) do you wear the least? yellow

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? navy or deep blue

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? pink

When we look at Susan’s photos, keep in mind that her natural hair color is self-described as a dark, ashy brown…mushroom brown instead of a true brunette. Let’s look at cooler colors first.

Now let’s look at Susan in warmer colors.

yellownavy

Although we don’t have much to go by in the warmer colors, it’s fairly obvious to me that Susan is not warm. She is definitely cool. However, Susan is not a Summer. Susan is a Winter. The cool pastel colors of Summer wash her out; they make her look too pale. Imagine her naturally darker hair color, and you’ll see that Susan should stick with the vibrant tones of Winter. Her eyes even pop more in Winter colors versus Summer.
