Ali

I recently completed a Glowing Color Consultation for Ali, a stay-at-home mom in Wisconsin. She has ash blonde hair, and greenish-gray eyes. She wears black, pink, gray, navy, and white the most.
After evaluating her photos, I determined Ali is a Spring. She should gradually shift her most-worn colors to blush/peach, coral, cream, olive, and light yellow. She can use charcoal gray as a replacement to black and can still wear navy in some instances (especially as bottoms).

Below is a sampling of some items I sent for her to shop in the format of a Color Board. She also wanted some hair color recommendations, so I sent her a couple of examples of a rich, golden blonde.

Amy

Today, Glowing Color features Amy.

About Amy: “I am 39 and have worked as a veterinary technician for the last 17 years. I’m also an aspiring artist and nature lover. I like to spend my free time drawing, painting, working on photography, hiking, gardening and hanging out with my pets and family.”

Amy’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most?

I like to wear warmer colors most of the time like rust, orange, olive green. I really like these colors but aren’t sure if they work on me. I also love plum and soft, muted colors.

What color(s) do you wear the least?

I rarely wear jewel tones as I just don’t like them. I also don’t wear white often.

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful?

I feel the most sexy in nudes and very light peach.

In what color(s) do you receive compliments?

I have gotten compliments in peach, cranberry and deep teal/blue.

First, how beautiful are Amy’s eyes? Stunning! Although the lighting varies in several photos, I can see that Amy is an Autumn. I suspected this before I even saw her warmer-colored photos when I got to the 2nd photo she sent me of herself in white. The cooler colors, while lovely, are just sitting on her. The warmer colors, particularly the yellow and burnt orange, absolutely light up her face and bring a vivacious spark. Amy is a woman who subconsciously is in tune with her best colors, based on her color interview. Although she sent in more photos of her in cool colors, I hope she will begin to cull her wardrobe to favor these bright and warm tones.

Danni

Today, Glowing Color features Danni.

About Danni: “My name is Danni and I live in Richmond, London. I am married and have 4 cats. I work at Roehampton Uni and like interacting with the students there. I love cooking and as my waistline will sadly confirm, eating too! I went vegetarian recently and am finding it a real challange. I enjoy collage, decoupage, beachcombing and macro photography. Oh! And making jewelry. I also like singing, and bubble baths.”

Danni’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most?

I like dark red, khaki/olive green. I wear lots of earth tones.

What color(s) do you wear the least?

I dislike royal purple with a passion, find grey boring. White I don’t mind, but it’s not practical!

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful?

I always feel pretty and in pink (haha)

In what color(s) do you receive compliments?

I get compliments in turquoise and red. And teal.

Danni’s natural hair color is a golden brown according to her, not as copper as you see here.

Danni is an Autumn. I noticed this pretty much right away! The warmer colors soften up her face and bring out a lovely glow. She said she wore earth tones mostly, and I think she will find a nice variety of shades within those tones to work with.

Courtney

Today, Glowing Color features Courtney.

About Courtney: “I recently found your website and am very much enjoying it!  I’ve always enjoyed fashion, but I want to learn to select clothes that really flatter me and my coloring.  Also, as someone who used to be a natural blond and now have dull brown hair, I’m trying to figure out the best hair color for my skin tone. I live near San Francisco, and work in San Francisco.  I’m 32, an attorney specializing in tax law and work with nonprofit organizations and charitable tax planning.  For fun I read, travel, dance, take long walks.”

Courtney’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most? Black and white — clean, classic, and everything in my closet mixes and matches.

What color(s) do you wear the least? Blue (all shades of blue I wear rarely).

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful? Sexy – red. Beautiful – coral or peach.

In what color(s) do you receive compliments? Coral or bright pink.

Courtney is a Spring. The cooler colors just sit on her, but her glow comes to life in the warmer colors. My eyes go straight to her face when she’s wearing light yellow and peach, but directly to the fabric when she’s wearing blue or pink. My initial thought was that she would be an Autumn, but my eyes kept being drawn to her in the lighter, warmer colors. She can wear some of the deeper, more vibrant warm colors, but the light tones of Spring really bring out her glow. I will also send some hair color ideas to her.
