Skinny Black Girl

Today I am featuring a friend of mine, the amazingly talented writer of the award-winning Skinny Black Girl blog.

SBG’s Color Interview:

What color(s) do you wear the most?

I wear a lot of black. I try to keep my wardrobe minimalistic (I hate stuff) and I find that black pieces are easy to repeat because they don’t stand out too much. Also, I’m a huge fan of the little black dress looks of the early 90s. Now that I’m a grown up, I just wanna look like En Vogue. lol.

What color(s) do you wear the least?

Pastels, in general. I find they’re too soft for my liking. I either like neutrals or bold colors.

In what color(s) do you feel sexy and/or beautiful?

My go-to sexy color was red, but cobalt blue is creeping up the list.

In what color(s) do you receive compliments?

Red, cobalt blue, and bold purples.

SBG is a Winter. I see more of SBG than what is represented here, so I can personally attest to the fact that she looks stunning in the bold, cool, jewel tones of Winter. The blue she is pictured in is more of a Summer blue, but in the cobalts and royal blues, she glows like no other! The warmer, softer colors either wash her out or just sit on her. SBG is one of those women who I see and instantly know their season. If you read her interview, the answer is reflected there as well. As a matter of fact, what I would consider her top 3 colors are the colors she gets complimented on most. I think once she starts shopping with the narrower eye of Winter, she is going to be so happy with her purchases going forward (especially as a minimalist).

redlinen green

Side-by-sides are a little difficult here because of the lighting differences in some of the photos, but you can get a general idea. The red lips and coat against her skin are lovely and enchanting. I LOVE the green dress with the stockings, but on SBG the warm, muted green does not light her up the same way. See the difference?
